About Fedor

Fedor Miloserdov is an associate professor of organic chemistry at Wageningen University & Research, where he leads the Homogeneous Catalysis and Organic Synthesis Group. His research is centered on asymmetric homogeneous catalysis with transition metals and organic synthesis of natural compounds, with an emphasis on developing new catalytic strategies that bridge fundamental chemistry and sustainable applications.

Originally from Russia, Fedor completed his undergraduate studies in Moscow before moving to Spain for his doctoral training. He earned his PhD at the Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) under Prof. Vladimir Grushin, focusing on homogeneous catalysis, mechanistic studies, and synthetic coordination chemistry. After finishing his PhD in 2015, he stayed at ICIQ for a three‑year postdoctoral fellowship with Prof. Antonio Echavarren, where he worked on the total synthesis of complex natural products. In 2018, supported by a Marie Skłodowska‑Curie Fellowship, Fedor joined Prof. Michael Whittlesey’s group at the University of Bath (UK) to expand his expertise in inorganic synthesis and organometallic chemistry. During this period, he contributed to research that combined synthetic organometallic approaches with mechanistic insight.

Fedor joined Wageningen University & Research in 2020 with the goal of connecting fundamental catalytic chemistry to practical challenges aligned with WUR’s mission “to explore the potential of nature to improve the quality of life.” His start at WUR was supported by Sectorplan Bèta en Techniek funding, which helped establish his independent research line and support new doctoral training.

Miloserdov’s current research emphasizes catalytic method development, reaction innovation, and the design of synthetic strategies that are both efficient and potentially impactful outside the laboratory.
